Meta Seinemeyer: Performance Chronology
Note: this is very much a work in progress. The following is a list of all of Seinemeyers performances that I know of, and it is not nearly complete; more performances will be added to the chronology as soon as I find more details.
The Deutsche Oper Berlin has had several different names over the years: the Charlottenburger Oper, Deutsches Opernhaus, Stdtische Oper, etc. To avoid confusion, I will refer to it as the Deutsche Oper throughout.
One source says that Seinemeyer made her debut in Hamburg in 1914 and sang in Wiesbaden in 1916, but so far I have found nothing else to confirm it. Seinemeyer was still a student at the conservatory in those years. The standard work on the Hamburg Opera, Joachim E. Wenzels Geschichte der Hamburger Oper 1678-1978, makes no mention of Seinemeyer.
1916

The concert consisted of part of the first act of Weber's Euryanthe, the first act of Die Walkre, the first half of the second act of Lohengrin, and the second act of Der fliegende Hollnder. Seinemeyer sang Euryanthe with Elly Heitmann as Eglantine. In Die Walkre, Ruth Wolfreim sang Sieglinde, Walter Evertz (sp?) sang Siegmund, and Adolf Boffin (sp?) sang Hunding. He also sang Daland in Der fliegende Hollnder. Erwin Rahl (sp?) sang Telramund and the Dutchman. In Lohengrin, Mary Barry sang Elsa and Margarete Bergau sang Ortrud. Acknowledgments
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Matthias Beutlich of Dresden, who looked through all the Dresden Opera programs from 1924-1929. Thanks to his work, I now have the dates of all of Seinemeyer's performances in Dresden. I also wish to thank Brigitte Euler, archivist of the Dresden Opera, for giving him permission to look through the archive's collection of programs, which is usually inaccessible to visitors, and for all her help during my visit to Dresden. Many thanks also to Brigitte Eckhardt of the Sächsische Landesbibliothek, Dresden, who was extremely helpful in finding microfilms of Dresden newspapers. Many thanks to Charles Mintzer, who provided me with information relating to Seinemeyers Berlin performances, from a handwritten journal by Heinz Bernhardt, who attended performances at one of Berlins four opera houses almost every night during the 1920s. He has also sent me copies of Charles Jahants research notes on Seinemeyer, which provide valuable information on her roles and the places where she sang. Thanks to Russ Hornbeck for providing me with additional information about Seinemeyers performances in Berlin. Thanks also to Georg Kasch and Dagmar Walach of the Freie Universitt Berlin, to Ulrich Dahmen, and to Peter Sommeregger for sending me copies of programs, to Axel Schrder of the Landesarchiv Berlin for information on Seinemeyer's appearances at the Berlin Staatsoper, to Cesar A. Dillon for information on Seinemeyer's appearances in Buenos Aires, and to Einhard Luther for the dates of Seinemeyer's performances in Zoppot.
